This Photo-series contains the results of a year of travelling throughout the UK, seeking to document moments of humanity. In many ways it could be considered a visual fingerprint of the past 12 months. My photos don't seek to make judgment or comment - that isn't my intention. However If I had to put one word forward that I could hope these photos represent it would be optimism.

 

We live in a world of political upheaval, war, suffering, homelessness, suicide - humanitarian crises in all forms. I don't seek to deny these things in fact many of them are represented in the photos before you. However I want optimism to be the overriding thought, optimism in defiance of it all. The belief that despite everything, there is still good that too often goes ignored. I want to show you how to focus instead on the minutia of human behaviour, the seemingly insignificant quirks of character that reveal a true beauty.
